I am a decathlete at the University of Northern Iowa and had been experiencing problems with shin splints as I had been training with my two year old asics gel kayano 13s. I bought these shoes to help with the shin splints, and because it was long past time for me to get new shoes. Since I have had them, shin splints have bothered me no more. Good amount of heel lockdown for sprinting and they feel VERY good on the feet. We got new team trainer shoes (Nike) and I don't even use them for the running workouts, instead I use them as my weight lifting shoes to tear down :) and use my new ASICS for the workouts. It is a testament to their durability as I use them for technical work in pole vault, hurdles, long and high jump, discus, shot put, javelin as well.
